Since his inauguration, Donald Trump has signed dozens of executive orders including one that states there are two sexes ONLY – men and women. Last week, he signed another executive order titled “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports” that directs the Department of Education to prohibit transgender girls from participating in girls’ sports. This order essentially reinterprets Title IX, the law from 1972 that prohibits sex discrimination in any educational program that receives federal funding. Back in 1972, the spirit of that law sought to enable women to have the same opportunities available to men.

Trump’s new executive order which disallows transgender girls from participating in girls’ sports corresponds with his earlier order that limits the definition of sex to men or women only – in essence narrowing the modern interpretation of Title IX. Transgender athletes are left with nowhere to go. The Education Department says they must and will comply with these executive orders.
