Raising the Minimum Wage and Extending Terms in Tucson
Published byDon Looseof Loose Law Group|January 2, 2020
- Don Loose discusses the 2020 increase in the Arizona Minimum Wage from $11.00/hour to $12.00/hour. Even with this increase, the Arizona minimum wage lags behind the rest of the country. Advocates of the increase say the increase still does not amount to a living wage.
- Terms for the Tucson Mayor and Council Members may be extended due to a change to elections being held in even numbered years. Unless challenged, the newly elected Mayor and Council Members will serve for 5-years, essentially getting a “bonus year”, in order to reach the next even numbered year election.
