Attorney Don Loose discusses several of the 18 bills proposed by the Arizona Republican controlled legislature that have been vetoed by the Democratic governor so far this year.
One bill that was signed into law by the governor was the bipartisan “tamale bill” which allows food made in home kitchens 1,000 square feet or less to be legally sold in Arizona, thereby forgoing requisite health inspections. Last year, the governor made waves by vetoing a similar bill because the definition of a “home kitchen” was too vague. This year’s tamale bill, with added provisions regarding the labeling of the cottage food products, was approved and will take effect 90 days after the end of this year’s legislative session – late summer. Gracias Governor Hobbs!
